One of the newest and most despicable scams I’ve encountered is what I call “Saddam’s Millions”. Nigerians posing as American soldiers contact strangers with grand stories of having found millions of Saddam Hussein’s money stashed in Iraq, and they need your assistance in getting it out.
I’ve only received a few of these to date, but I’ll no doubt receive more. This is one reason soldiers need to beware of putting too much of their information on the web. Scammers may very well steal money using their identity and photo’s.
I respond to each of these senders with the same request, "I'll need to see your military ID", and unfortunately, they have been able to do so.
Though I have not considered this medium to be the best manner to have approached you on this issue being that the Internet has been greatly abused over the recent years and is very unsecured for informations of vital importance. I have decided to take the chance seeing that no other means could have been faster and more efficient than the E-mail.
